Mr. Namedropper Extraordinaire has a little problem with the “facts.”
–which means he fits right in with the neocon crowd because they think they can make it up as they go along.
Did I hear McCain say in response to Ron that Ike didn’t run on promising to get us out of Korea? Well, here’s a transcript of one of his campaign ads:
“‘Announcer: Eisenhower answers America.
“‘Man: General, the Democrats are telling me I never had it so good.
“‘Eisenhower: Can that be true when America is billions in debt, and prices have doubled and taxes break our backs, and we are still fighting in Korea. It’s tragic. And it’s time for a change.’”
Last week, candidates were complaining about their not being included in some debates. This week, low attendance is forcing National Public Radio to cancel its forum with the Republican candidates in Columbia, S.C.
“We had commitments, we had some people whose schedules were fluid, and the ultimate decision was to cancel it,” said Andi Sporkin, a spokeswoman for NPR.
The debate, scheduled for next Wednesday, would have come one day after the Michigan primary, which is shaping up to be a pivotal race for the Republicans. South Carolina’s Republican primary will be on Jan. 19. It is not the first political gathering to be canceled or postponed this season. When the top-tier contenders declined to attend his Republican forum on public television in September, the host, Tavis Smiley, held the event anyway, with the absent candidates’ names on lonely lecterns.
This question on electability. Rumors are going around that this question was completely edited out on the replay of the Fox News debate. Is this true? Can someone verify? If this is the case it is another piece of evidence that wipes any credibility away that Fox News has left as a news organization. This is unacceptable. The very question in and of itself asking if Ron Paul has any electability shows a blatant bias against Ron Paul. They would never ask this of any other candidate.
This was also the defining moment of the debate in my eyes. It was like they couldn’t wait to cut to commercial. Ron Paul was applauded loudly and really this was a moment of clarity on how absurd the wars in the Middle East are.
